To Be Fearless in the face of Adversity
Early on in my life, as a result of a lot of things coming easy to me. I made a mistake of believing that if something is for me it needed to come easily. Therefore if I was struggling to hard for it or failed at it, It was because it wasn't really mine to begin with and that was a sign that I should let it go.
So, for the longest time I believed that failure in the middle of an endeavor only meant that I should quickly let it go . A recipe for a lot of half finished projects.
After all, I deserved easy success because I was 'the clever one','the lucky one', 'the pretty one'. Right?🤦♀️
I think Josh Waitzkin put it best when he said “The moment we believe that success is determined by an ingrained level of ability, we will be brittle in the face of adversity.”
And oh yes I was. Extremely brittle in the face of adversity. Always quick to retire some where and lick my wounds full of lamentations.
It took me a while to come to the realisation that no success really truly comes easy. I never realised the hard work behind my early successes because I enjoyed it. The only person that deserves success is the one that works hardest for it and puts in all the blood sweet and tears and fails over and over again and gets up over and over again.
Failure is not a place to give up and lay there. It is just the stepping stone for success.
